Ruby gloom
is a cross between Raggedy-Anne, the Power Puff Girls,
and the Addams family. Mixing the giant-eye manga-esque
features of pokemon with the sort of "death is cool"
ideology so common with the Gothic Scene; she is usually
called something along the lines of "fastest growing
character in the Pantheon of deadly cute things that go
bump in the night". Ruby Gloom stuff includes all
of the usual iconography of the goth movement, Ruby and
her friends go though the sort of adventures that only
a mall-angst addicted teen could find interesting. Complete
with their saleable items such as plush dolls and designer
playsets, this comic begs the question "with this
many white suburban teens fascinated with death, why haven’t
they just gone and killed themselves already?"
